This is a tutorial on how to get started during your first few days in a new Minecraft SMP server.

Understanding coordinates, and how to set a home, will be important here. Set homes often as you travel, in case of death.

Commands

Start your gameplay with our Main Questline by talking to Syllia at Spawn! This will give you some beginner items early on, and guide you through the starting steps of a Minecraft SMP.

Quests (WIP)

Noob Hole

—> Before even looking for a spot for a base, make a hole you can return to at night. Give it a crafting table, furnace and a door, and maybe a chest. It only needs to be about 8x4 at most, and you can do this right outside of Spawn. You’ll only live here for a few days.

• during the day, cut wood and gather mob drops and meat.
• when the sun goes down, retreat to your hole and mine down to look for coal and iron.

—> Next focus on a set of iron armor, a sword or axe, and a few stacks of food. This will make the process of looking for a base location much easier!

• our server is on hard mode, so you really don’t want to be running around with nothing at night, this is the main way new players end up rage quitting.

Location, Location

Once you have some basic armor and a weapon, you’re ready to go looking for a base spot.

• The Inner 10k Transit, and Temples are a great way to get out far, but be wary of living within 10,000 blocks of Spawn. This is a high traffic area. Living here can be fun and lively - if you’re fine with the potential of being raided, and good at defending yourself!

• Another way to travel far fast, is the Nether roof. Click here to learn how to get there. Each block in the nether is worth 8 blocks in the Overworld!

  • don’t forget to bring obsidian and a flint and steel so you can portal back

• You can live high up where you’ll have good visibility but may be spotted easier by raiders, or hide your base by building underground.

• Once you’ve found the perfect spot, getting the basics of your base together becomes the usual goal at this point in Minecraft. From there you can branch out into learning enchantments, brewing, fighting bosses, and even teaming up with other players.

Automatic Food

You’ll go through a lot of food in hard mode. So, the next main goal after finding a home is to set up an efficient food source. Preferably, one you don’t have to do a lot of work to manage.

There’s a few ways you can set up automatic food farms for yourself, but one of the best is the auto chicken cooker.
