Finding Bases to Raid
Understanding coordinates will make everything easier. Check out this page:
Manipulation
“Gaslight, gatekeep, girlboss.” - Pandora
“Befriend someone and give their location to a raider faction on the server.” - mortal slide
- Manipulation is the main way bases get raided in Minecraft SMPs. Why do the work of looking for bases, when you can simply befriend the owners and get them to invite you?
- Play the loyal basemate act well enough and you can even hit the same group over and over - without them ever knowing it’s you.
- This works best when you’re new to the community. Eventually, if you’re caught, word will get out that you’re untrustworthy and it will be harder for you to get into bases.
- at this point, you have a new angle you can play though: form a group that’s all about raiding… and then betray your fellow raiders!
- You can also play the long game - be a helpful part of a base for months before you betray them. Time this when a lot of new members have joined the base, and you can avoid detection!
Searching
- Due to the sheer size of a Minecraft world, this method is much harder, but not impossible. With this method, you simply travel the world until you come across a base to raid.
- Look for these signs that a player has been nearby:
- decaying leaves from trees being cut down
- random crafting tables
- dirt on the side of mountains that hasn’t turned into grass yet
- cobblestone towers, usually made to get up mountains or avoid mobs
- The inner 10,000 blocks of the world tend to have the most bases, though it will mostly be beginner bases. Use Temples and the ITT to get around this inner range quickly.
- Seeing signs a player has been nearby? Place down a Nether portal, go through it into the Nether, and then go back through it back into the Overworld. You may luck out and come out in a base, if they have a portal in their home.
- always go through random portals you see. someone placed those! just beware of traps - be ready to type
/spawn
quickly.
- Many players will use the Nether roof to get out far quickly. Only the most experienced will cover up their traces afterwards. This means, you can run around on the Nether roof and look for portals left behind by players. Follow their portals, and you may find a base nearby!

Declaring War
Join our Discord and use the #kivcraft forum to make a post declaring war on other bases.
You don’t have to do this before raiding, but it can make things more fun and dramatic. It’s pretty threatening to post a screenshot of yourself at someone’s base, with a ransom!
