This page is helpful to understand all of this:
These tips are all optional. Many players will break these rules knowingly, because sometimes it makes gameplay more fun to build out in the open and risk it all.
But if you never want to be raided, follow all of these tips and pray…
“Simply live out of an ender chest. Can't be raided if you don't have a base.” - Aaron Rider
The Ender Chest is the safest place to put your items. Only you can access its contents, and they will remain the same in any Ender Chest you open, even if the original is destroyed.
Your Ender Chest has a maximum of 27 slots. The best way to use this is to fill it with Shulker Boxes. Shulker Boxes can be named in anvils, and this method can be used to organize all of your valuables and then some.
Some players will live entirely out of their Ender Chest, using picks with Silk Touch.
“Be homeless. Adrift, a nomad, at peace, build just enough to survive a night and leave it. live in [the inner 10k] like this.” - Pandora
“Have good friends.” - Pandora
Your basemates can really make or break everything.
Will they betray you by selling your home coordinates to a raider group? Will they carelessly post screenshots of the base’s treasury, making you a target to everyone on the server? Or will they quietly build epic auto farms and let you reap the benefits?
It’s a good idea to start out with “tester” mini bases, far away from your actual base, to see if a new player you’ve met will quickly turn on you and start blowing things up. A good sign is a player who starts to help build up the base as soon as you invite them.
“Build underground, with an entrance you can't find unless you know where it is.” - mortal slide
“Try not to build anything on the surface as people flying above will be able to see it. Ideally you'd want them to just pass by without knowing your base is there. Use natural materials to patch your entrance holes. You'd feel pretty bad if a player randomly breaks a piece of cobblestone and it reveals your entire entrance. Don't take screenshots with any identifying landmarks (trees, villages, bodies of water, etc.), obviously don't take screenshots with your coords out.” - Aaron Rider
“Have a super secret base not even your best friends know about. That's where all your most valuable items should be kept.” - Jack of Hearts
Your secret vault can act like an extension of your Ender Chest. Keep it small, focused on storage, and don’t let a single other player know where it is.
